56th Foundation Day
E.B.D.P. Association, the Apex R.W.A. of C.R. Park celebrated its 56th Foundation Day Anniversary on 9th and 10th April 2016 at Kali Mandir Complex, C.R. Park. The function was inaugurated by Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament on 9th April by lighting the lamp. In her brief speech, she appreciated the efforts of E.B.D.P. Association in rendering welfare service to the community. The Association also felicited former Secretaries S/ Shri S.R. Saha, Dr. Majumdar, Amiya Roy, P.K. Roy, and P.K. Paul by offering bouquets with shawal. Some of them spoke highly about the functioning of E.B.D.P. Association.
In his speech, Shri A.K. Guha, President of the Association traced the history of E.B.D.P. Association which dates back to 1954 started by a few central Govt. employees as “Association of Central Govt. employees dislodged from East Pakistan” with Shri M.L. Dutta as its Secretary. In 1960, the Association was registered as E.P.D.P. Association and in 2009, it became E.B.D.P. Association. Shri Guha mentioned various important activities undertaken by E.B.D.P. and to quote a few, these are Old Age Home in C.R. Park (likely to commence construction shortly), Piped Natural Gas supply to the residents and proposed Sr. Citizens Recreation Centre in C.R. Park.
Shri Ashish Dutta stated that he took over as Secretary in June 2015 though he was associated with E.B.D.P. Association for last few years. He mentioned that E.B.D.P., as nodal Agency, assists in matters concerning various civic amenities of the residents. In the evening 9th, a grand cultural function was organized.
On 10th April’16, a Medical Camp was organized where Specialist Medical professionals were present for attending to the patients. Also a Blood Donation Camp was conducted by the Red Cross Society. A number of residents including Senior Citizens availed the facility.
On 10th April’16 evening E.B.D.P felicitated Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, M.L.A. and Shri Virender Kasana, Municipal Councilor. They lighted the Lamp and in their speech, they appreciated the work of E.B.D.P. Thereafter, an excellant cultural programme “ Gaudiya Nritya” was displayed by the renounded Artists followed by Bengali folk songs by SA RA GA MA PA Artists.
